Naga was built by Family

People sometimes ask who built Naga. The short answer is: a lot of us.

Building something on a small island is rarely straightforward. Plans change. Materials arrive when they arrive. Something inevitably needs fixing. Someone knows someone who knows exactly the person you need. And before long, what started as a construction project becomes a collection of people solving problems together.

From the beginning, Naga has been a family affair. Baow’s family has been part of turning an idea into an actual place, one job, conversation, favour, meal and pair of helping hands at a time.

At the heart of that effort has been Baow’s father, who worked tirelessly to help make his son’s dream come true. From long days on the land to solving the countless practical problems that come with building something from scratch, his time, energy and care are quite literally built into Naga.

And he was never alone. Family members, friends and people from the community stepped in along the way, each contributing in their own way. On a small island, building rarely happens in isolation. Someone always knows someone, plans change, materials arrive when they arrive, and when something needs doing, another pair of hands somehow appears.

There is still plenty left to build. But whatever comes next, we know we won’t be building it alone.
